Hello to all of you and thank you for following us on our bloq. We are very excited new "bloqqers"
Why are we starting one anyways?
Well, we think 2012 will probably be one of our most exciting years!
We have decided to move to Vermont and build our own house with our own hands and our planet's resources. We have started this bloq so all of you can be with us on this adventure and we wanted to share our dreams, hopes, fears as well as the progress of our project with you.
But first things first. Lots has to be done before we can move.
We needed to figure out how we want to get from Colorado to Vermont. Almost 17 000 miles! Flying was not an option for us and so we thought through many ideas.
Finally this Valentine's Day we found our match: "HaRVey the RV" how his former owner Jaime used to call him and we keep to the tradition.
It was "love" at first sight but HaRVey was the first motor home we looked at and so we wanted to make sure there was not a better fish (motor home) out there for us. Believe me, there was definitely NOT and Jaime seemed to know that even before we did. He was so excited about our story that he told other interested people that they could not come and look at the RV yet cause he believed we would call him back in a few days and tell him we wanted HaRVey. Well, I assume Jaime has some foreseeing power or just a good heart (he for sure does have that!) because we did call back.
So we met up on February 14th and had a very nice evening with Jamie during which we laughed and talked a lot and shared stories (Jaime has lots to tell with an exciting past like his - growing up in Nederland in an RV and traveling all over the states, working on boats and now having 4 dogs and a lovely finace). At the end of that evening Jaime sold us HaRVey for 600 dollar less than he listed him without us asking for that. THANK YOU so much, Jaime! Thank you for believing in our dreams and for being as passionate as you are.
Now almost 10 days have passed and we are leaving our house in Longmont in not quite a week. HaRVey got a "spa-treatment" which included oiling his furniture and scrubbing his floors and now we are in the progress of fitting our home into our motor home. Well, maybe a fourth of it. We are selling most of our furniture except ones with sentimental value like Clayton's great grandmothers dresser, one old bookshelf and a table I painted and gave new life. Clayton has to figure out which ones of his hundreds of books have to stay and which ones of his collector beers. Pan has to get rid of some of his toys and I will narrow down my wardrobe, midwifery books, beading supplies and asian decorations - ;-)
Everybody has to give some things but what we will get later on will be more than worth it and we are happy other people can have fun with things that gave us pleasure for a while.
Well I think it is enough for now but soon we will tell you more about our house building plans (the title of the bloq is a good hint though) and show you pictures of HaRVey (all crammed up probably)
Thank you and we hope you all are well!
